Orissa (Jana Seva Kendra)
The state of Orissa has been pioneer in implementation of the broad objectives of CSC scheme, as before the commencement of NeGP the state government had rolled out its own self employment programme known as “information kiosk” scheme out of the state budget. But under NeGP, the Government of Orissa had began the implementation of the CSC Scheme in June 2008 by appointing three Service Centre Agencies (SCA), viz., SREI Sahaj e-village Ltd., Bhartiya Samruddhi Finance Ltd. (Basix) and Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd. The CSC has been branded as “Jana Seva Kendra” in Orissa.
Out of the total target of 8558 CSCs with one CSC per 6 revenue villages, 5286 CSCs are established till August’2011 in different parts of Orissa. Though connectivity and electricity are stumbling blocks for the establishment of CSC, the scheme is on the way of its success as recently e-District project was launched on pilot basis in two districts of Orissa and e-municipality project was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Orissa. It will enable VLEs to provide various G2C services in the near future. In the present scenario, VLEs are collecting electricity bills from the citizen across the state of Orissa.
The other B2C services those are available to the citizens of Orissa through CSCs are Air ticket booking, Railway ticketing, Life & General Insurance, Micro Insurance, Micro finance, Mobile recharges, E-learning courses, IGNOU Courses ,PFRDA and others. They are also providing various offline services like Digital photography, CD burning, mobile ring tone loading, Scanning, Internet surfing and others.
